Birth

A solo exhibition of the Syrian artist "Sara Shamma" in Art House in Damascus between the 11th and the 31st of January 2011. The exhibition is entitled "Birth" and includes new different size paintings (oil on canvas) most of them were created in 2010, Sara comments: "I did this collection during my pregnancy so they are full with my maternity feelings; this is why I have chosen this title for the exhibition". During the exhibition, some items carrying pictures of some paintings (such as Posters and Mugs) in addition to the exhibition's Catalogue had been sold and the proceeds went to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) as part of Shamma's support to WFP projects. WFP has nominated last month Sara Shamma as a Celebrity Partner of the Programme, she will support WFP through her artwork and will use her position and reputation in the cultural scene to bring attention to its humanitarian projects. The support will take different aspects. The exhibition was held under the patronage of the Syrian Minister of Culture Dr. Riad Ismat.
